HAPPY BIRTHDAY LANA!

today lana turns 27!!! she is one of my best friends and i love her so much. i can tell her anything and she always takes me seriously. we can always make each other laugh and i feel sad if i haven't called to talk to her at least twice a week. she has the most adorable little boy, max, and she is such a good mom. i don't know how she does it but she is a therapist at a girl's youth correction facility. she's very professional about it and won't even tell me the name of some celebrity's kid who's been there. :) these girls don't want to be there and they can be so mean to lana and she just takes it and tries to think of ways to help them. she was way popular in high school and was voted "best smile" and homecoming princess by her peers. she was beatrice in "much ado about nothing" in high school and she was FANTASTIC. i remember watching her in that play and just being so proud that she was my sister. lana is super talented when it comes to drawing and does these amazing charcoal sketches. my favorite thing about lana is that i know i can 100% be myself around her and we always have a good time. happy birthday lana! i love you!

a poopy poem

hi my name is penny
and i like to poop my pants.
i like to save it up all day
then i do the poopy dance.
i only poop in public
that's the only way to go
i poo my little heart out
until i poo no mo'.
then once we all get home
the discovery is made
that i made a stinky present
of a lovely greenish shade.
my mom strips me naked
my dad gets out the shout
he scrubs with grim ferocity
while my mom sulks and pouts.
then my dad gets out the camera
cuz i'm so happy without clothes
and takes a picture for the blog

too bad paul came home for lunch today and WOKE HER UP.

she had only been asleep for 20 minutes and usually sleeps for an hour and half in the early afternoon therefore equaling an hour and a half of downtime for me. it may not seem like a big deal but you moms know how vitally important naptimes are so you can have a teensy dose of normality and personal time before the baby wakes up and you plunge right back into the mom role. but noooo, paul had to come home for lunch and make a huge loud noise right next to penny's room when the door was open and then skidaddle back to work while i dealt with a fussy baby who is now sitting next to me and pooping her pants whilst i type.

but i have a plan of revenge in mind. and here it is:

today was a pretty nice day. paul has meetings on sunday mornings so saturday mornings are the only ones we get to spend together. we slept in, and then gave each other prezzies: paul got me pink roses and an HOUR long massage at an aveda salon (i can't freaking wait). i got him an edited copy of one of his favorite movies, tombstone. we then ate at our favorite thai restaurant for lunch and afterwards paul let me take a nap while he watched penny - a rare treat. :) we decided we didn't want to go out for dinner so paul cooked some steaks on our grill that were pretty dang good. and now penny's asleep and we're gonna watch a movie. pretty much just a nice, relaxing day. i love you paul!

5 months!

5-month stats:

* getting very grabby
* she actually plays with her toys now instead of just yelling at them
* still a skinny little wiff
* is slowly leaving her 0-3 month clothes behind and fits into her 3-6 month clothing length-wise but not width-wise
* sorta liking her rice cereal better
* enjoys watching american idol with mom and pop
* almost rolling over, but she gets stuck on her side and then yells. it's pretty funny. i think i would yell, too.
* getting a very attractive bald patch in the back of her head (well maybe if you rolled over, penny, you would spend more time on your tummy than your back and not rub all the hair off the back of your head.)

this weekend...

...my parents and little brothers came up to see jordan's new baby girl, katelyn, and we all stayed at lana's house (thanks lana and kris). here's some pics of us chillin' at casa wren.

i let penny nap in her carrier after some errands, and when she woke up i found her like this.
