Happy Birthday, Violet!

One year ago today our sweet baby Violet was born and we love her so much! I couldn't imagine life without her, and without further ado, here are Violet's monthly photos...

*Taken this morning with my phone.

We had a low-key day today running around doing errands and things, but throughout the day whenever I would glance at the clock my mind would wander back to what was happening a year ago today. 11:00am...last check-up at the OB...1:00pm...my mom arrived from the airport...4:00pm...I woke up from a nap because my water broke...9:30pm...baby girl was born. It was such a special day and I'm so glad I took all these monthly pics to remember my baby Violet's first year. Happy Birthday, Miss Violet!

Happy Easter!

We had such a nice day yesterday! It was 65 degrees and warm and sunny - perfect! We're traveling to California in a few weeks for my little brother's mission homecoming (so excited!), and we couldn't take the additional time off to travel anywhere for Easter, so it was just us this year. And it was great! After 9am church and a nap for Violet, we finally surprised the girls with their baskets.

Violet got an Easter pop-up book and a little stuffed bunny. Penny got a chocolate bunny, Hello Kitty chapstick, a new Bernstein Bear book and a Cinderella doll. When she saw the doll she got way excited and asked us, "Did the Easter Bunny go to the Disney store??" Yep, he sure did. (And mom and dad got some candy, too. The dark chocolate bunny is mine, of course.)

Penny really wanted to stay in and play with her new things, and made a fuss when I had to drag her outside for the egg hunt, but once she saw all the brightly colored eggs on the grass she got a huge grin on her face and said "I'm gonna be happy now!" Ha!

Violet had no idea what was going on, of course, but she made a beeline straight for those eggs!

I loved their little floofy dresses. There were only two color choices, and Penny picked the green one right away. What is it about dressings sisters in matchy clothes? I love it.

After the egg hunt we had a yummy ham dinner and then went on a family walk. Penny couldn't stop talking about all the eggs she got and went to bed holding her Cinderella doll in one hand and her new book in the other. And we did give Violet one tiny piece of chocolate and she practically lost her mind she loved it so much. Hope you all had a lovely Easter!

So this post is way overdue (she turns 12 months next week), but here's some things about 11-month old Violet...

- Likes to feed you whatever she's eating.
- Has gotten to the stage where she keeps pulling out her hair clips – wah!
- So wiggly and all over the place. She crawls super fast and always heads straight for the biggest mess she can make.
- Drinks from a sippy cup like a big girl.
- She only nurses twice a day now, once in the morning after she wakes up and once at night before bedtime.
Pretty much done with pureed baby food, she likes big people food better.
- Her favorite thing to snack on is an apple. I just cut off half an apple for her and she goes to town.
- When you feed her something particularly tasty, she goes "mmmm".
- Starting to stand on her own for a few seconds. Usually, she’ll pull to stand on a piece of furniture, and then will let go and stand for a few wobbly seconds before grabbing back on.
- When she waves hi, sometimes she’ll say “Aiiii!”

I can't believe my little chubalub is going to be ONE in only ten days!!  This year has zoomed by and I feel so blessed every day to have Miss Violet in our lives. She's so healthy and happy that it makes my heart burst. Love this girl!!

*Yes, these photos are from the same batch as the last post, but considering she turned 10 months two weeks ago, I figured I shouldn't delay her 10-month post any longer so I just chose some more of my favorites!

Some things about 10-month old Violet...

- Cruises along furniture, she sometimes gets on her tippy toes when she does this. It's so cute!
- She only needs one hand to hold onto a piece of furniture.
- Starting to wave hi! I love it!
- Makes little cheese ball faces.
- Such a night owl! She's always the last one asleep in the girls’ room hollering at Penny through the bars in her crib trying to keep Penny awake. Ha!
- Starting to like the game where she drops something just to watch you pick it up and give it back to her.
- She seriously makes me laugh every day, she has such a funny little personality! Love my sweet girl.

my girls

*Penny (4 1/2 years) + Violet (10 months)

I took some pics of my girls yesterday for my shop and I had to share some of my favorites here on the blog. I love that they both have coppery hair and blue eyes, they are definitely sisters. I am so grateful for these two. Violet will be one year old in just two months (!) and I can't hardly handle it. She's so squishy and yummy, 10 months is one of my favorite ages. Penny is turning into such a little girl, not a toddler at all anymore, and surprises me all the time with new things that she's learned.

Love my girls!
